Family & Life
I’m fortunate in being able to design my life around my family. My wife Dee and I have an ongoing and constructive negotiation around our roles and how we balance our lives between work and the relationship we have with each other and our children.

Wherever possible I will pick my daughters Amy and Nina up from school and having an office at home means that when I am not with clients I am around the house and can play an active role in their lives.

Flying
I learned to fly back in 1993. Since getting my pilots licence I have flown many small planes. Most recently, I am flying a Jora SP2 which offers one of the most fun and affordable ways to fly. I have three partners and we hanger it at Stellenbosch airfield outside Cape Town.

Yoga
A friend introduced me to Yoga in the mid 1990‘s. I discovered the most powerful and rewarding exercise regime that I have come across. Unlike any other sports I had done which offered a good workout followed my reduced energy, Yoga provides a stimulating all body workout that generates energy. I practice the Sun Salute most mornings as a good stretch which also gets my heart pounding and my mind clear.

Sports
Sports in one form or another has always been a part of my life. I remember learning tennis and squash from my mom and dad who are both keen sports people.

At school I played league squash and ran cross country, representing  my school. While I have played most sports, running has been held a consistent place in my exercise regime since childhood.

My favourite sport of all time is snow skiing or snow boarding and my most recent sporting achievement was completing Ironman South Africa in 2008. I went back a second time in 2009 and wasn’t as successful with three punctures and retiring with heat exhaustion half way through the marathon. It was a great event and my next Ironman goal is to complete an Ironman when I am 50.

I’m fortunate to live close to the southern slopes of Table Mountain and spend many an hour exploring the trails between my house and the summit at Maclears Beacon. My favourite run is up Devils Peak which offers some of the best views of Cape Town.

Most recently I have taken up long boarding which entails surfing on a board big enough that even novices like me have a decent chance of standing up and experiencing surfing.

Meditation
I am blessed or cursed with a very busy mind. While I love living a busy and fulfilling life, meditation provides me with an antidote to all the busy-ness by quietening my mind and putting everything in perspective. The time invested in meditation creates more time in my day by allowing me to be more grounded.
